Challenging Yourself to do the Simple Things REALLY WELL Pays off.

Training Tuesday

AKA foundation skills are important.

This video is only 18 seconds long, but it has a lot going on. I expect Niko to walk past his tug toy to get to odor and bark.

What this shows me is that he will move past his reinforcer (the ultimate distractor) to get to odor (the cue) to bark (the behavior) so he can get his reinforcer. He has a full understanding that the contingency for reinforcement is that he must get to odor and bark.

Why is this important? Because maybe that distractor is a rabbit, food or other something else the next time.

It allows me to train inside when the weather is crappy. I use this same concept when working obedience, directionals and other basic skills I need him to know.

It also helps to build those nuero pathways so he's thinking instead of reacting.

Training Challenge!!!!

Post your videos of you doing something similar. Whether it be at odor work, directionals or doing obedience (or something else). Put your reinforcer out there to serve as the distractor.
