The Need for Speed

We often get into the debate about how 'fast' a dog can work and we has humans seem to buy into the 'bigger, faster, stronger' mentality.

In detection work, give me accuracy over speed in the beginning. Do I want a dog that takes a long time, no, but I want an efficient and effective detection k9 team.

In order to train the dog (and the human) sometimes we need to work slow and get the mechanics. Then as the mechanics get more fluid, speed comes.

This may take breaking down your training, both for you and your dog, into small increments to get the mechanics right.

Take the time, work on the foundations.

Slow is smooth,

Smooth is fast.
