If You Are The Smartest Person in The Room, You Are in The Wrong Room

Training Tuesday

Based off of last weeks post, I have been thinking a lot about being a newbie. Being in this position requires you to be uncomfortable, a lot.

It also requires you to evaluate who your training tribe is. I have different tribes based on what I'm training. I also have done something scary and exciting. I'm going for my Master K9 Trainer education through the @SWDI - Scandinavian Working Dog Institute. This is a year long program where we are covering all sorts of training concepts.

We are in week 4 and I'm already learning many new things, cleaning up my own bad behaviors, and finding some foundational holes in my own dogs training. These foundational behaviors are key to what and how I want my dogs to behave. Sometimes it is even a safety issue.

What are some of the most interesting things you have incorporated into your training after you trained with a new tribe?

Take the time to evaluate who's in your room. Strive to learn more. When we know better, we do better. When we know better, our dogs are better.
