Bob Deeds

Few instructors carry the depth of operational experience that Bob Deeds brings to the field. As a retired Canine Search Specialist with Texas Task Force One (FEMA), Bob and his K9 partner, Kinsey, deployed to some of the most catastrophic events in modern history:

• Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks
• Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina, and Rita
• Multiple local and national disaster responses over two decades

Kinsey’s extraordinary service earned the PDSA Dickin Medal—the world’s highest honor for animal gallantry—as well as induction into the Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association’s Hall of Fame.

Bob’s later partners, Gracie (Live Find) and Remi (HRD), continued that legacy, accompanying him on deployments from hurricanes Dolly and Ike to the devastating Wimberley floods in Texas. In addition to his operational work, Bob has served as a FEMA evaluator, certifying urban search and rescue dogs across the country, and continues to mentor new handlers preparing for local and national response.

A lifelong learner, Bob practices science-based training and completed multiple “Chicken Workshops” and applied what he learned throughout his training and teaching. Bob competed in AKC Rally.  He also trained his Malinois, Mogens, while exploring the sport of Mondioring. Bob has trained dogs for narcotics, explosives, and accelerant detection and was part of a team that trained one of the first peanut detection service dogs in the country. His depth of knowledge, steady coaching style, and unparalleled field experience make him one of the premier working dog instructors in the U.S.
