This class will cover a few of the more common pieces of tech used during SAR incidents that relate to incident mapping, communications, and logging activity. Using technology during a search can make limited resources more efficient and aid in accountability and documentation of the incident. A vital component of a successful SAR operation is that command needs to be able to have a clear picture of the tasks that are ready to be assigned, tasks that are currently in progress, and tasks that have already been completed.  Having a mapping system that is easy to use is a very important part of maintaining this awareness.

Zello is used as a communications walkie/talkie application.

Telegram is used as a primary log and chronological 

SARTopo is used for collaborative search planning, detailed elevation profiles and terrain analysis, printing geospatial PDFs, exporting maps to your smartphone, and allowing LE and Search Mangers real-time viewability of your team movement while searching, thus allowing them birdseye view and that ability to direct your team to uncovered areas.
