Time & Location

May 09, 2022, 8:30 AM – May 13, 2022, 3:00 PM

Olathe, 18505 W 119th St, Olathe, KS 66061, USA

About The Event

This training will be for any Department Personel with a critical incident response (CIRT K9s), Mental Wellness Dog, or any other dogs assigned and owned by a government agency that provides peer or victim support. There will be both classroom and real world training in multiple locations as a K9 Team.

What are Critical Incident K9's?

These dogs work for an agency and often have the title of Critical Incident Response K9, Victim Advocate K9, Court K9, or other mental health/peer support K9. They are used to support the mental health of agencies and work with victims of violent crimes and CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) and Peer Support Teams.

Only handlers and K9's that work for an agency will be allowed to attend this conference.

Agencies and Supervisors

Specific sessions will address how to build and manage a program for this type of K9. Hear from organizations who already use these types of K9's as well as trainers and handlers. The goal is to provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and see how one of these dogs could best benefit your agency. We encourage agencies and supervisors who want to start a program to come and learn about these Special K9 Teams. There are so many ways they can help!

K9 Handlers

Get hands on training at various environments that will give you additional opportunities to enhance your skill.

Certifications Offered

We will be offering a National Critical Incident Response K9 Certification. The Certification will be completed by Alliance For Emergency Response Instructors and Examiners on Thursday.  Examiners will be available during training to assist with questions.

A special thanks to the Johnston County KS Sheriff's Office for hosting this training.
